Well considering GM is making respirators now and the new Hummer is electric seems like the perfect option, plug in your Hummer, and plug in yourself, hah

Default GM announces a new option for the H2ev

GM announced today a new RPO option code "SOL" for the new Hummer EV. It consists of an emergency generator mounted in the rear of the vehicle that when in operation will allow the H2ev be able to run at 2 mph or you can wait 2 weeks and have a full charge, PS dont forget the gas cans.

This great new option will get you home when you have used up your 350 mile range of the main batteries. Just plug in your H2ev, start the generator and your good to go. lol

after talking to GMC,about the New H2, being that we’re living in a condo, he said I could go on the Florida turnpike rest area and charge the hummer while we’re eating at Buger King, it would be fully charged in about 2-3 hours on there speed chargers...

so I could drive another 500 or so miles before I had to recharge it again, depending how I drive, then I asked about using a 220 converter with a Honda Generator in the roof of the H2, he said it was possible, then I thought about a huge solar panel, that would charge the truck all day while I was driving around or parked....

after thinking about it all and the hassle it’s going to be,I’ll just spend the 5k and get my 2004H2 painted and I’ll stay happy....

Not designed for a road trip! I have done many road trips, driving 12+hrs straight to get to my destination. I can take my time now.

Funny, we are all figuring out a way to re-engineer the "new" Hummer, stupid GM they already had the solution to the problem, Duramax! Oh wait this would make the tree huggers unhappy and not go with the new GM logo,,,,

Personally, if they would have made it a Duramax I would have seriously considered buying it if they didn't screw it up cosmetically. Since there really is no Hummer dealers releasing it under the GMC name was a necessity.

Now it should be interesting to see how well its received. It might drive the values of the old ones down, much like what happened to the C4 ZR1 Corvette, when GM came out with the new one the old C4 lost nearly 1/3 of their values and really never
recovered. One thing that is going for the new one is the 0 to 60 in 3 seconds. That's incredible performance and one that is likely to draw the supercar crowd to raise an eyebrow.

I really have mixed feeling about the whole thing. One thing is for sure, I hope GM wont tarnish the Hummer name by making some kind of Tesla copycat. I wonder if tomorrow during the superbowl commercials GM will give us a sneak peak.

So I've had a few months too look this thing over. It doesn't look enough like a HUMMER, might be why they insist on putting so many HUMMER logos on it. It looks more like the Avalanche. It doesn't look bad, just not enough HUMMER. From the front, they moved the headlights out to the corners just like every other truck out there. HUMMER's before have the lights indented from the sides and round. From the sides, it has the look of the H2 a little here, might be the best HUMMER angle. The roof, while it is a nice concept having an open roof and glass panels, which seems to be the in-thing now, hopefully is an option. Many will want to throw on a roof rack and the glass top will no doubt complicate things there. And removable roof panels. Yeah, I've had a few cars that had removable tops and it's great at first and then I never did it much again. Too much hassle. Sunroof is much easier.

Anybody thought about where the spare tire will go? Hmm. No front receiver hitch.

0-60 in...who cares. It's created for off-road yet because it's electric, and unless you've been living under a rock since the stone age you will know that electric is just faster, they have to throw this ability in there because everyone loves speed right? And it's another selling point because they are going to need that to sell you a 100k truck. But you don't need it. Think about how hard it will be to stop this thing when you're doing 0-60 in 3 seconds and someone pulls out in front of you. That's what you should really be worried about and the insurance costs and taxes.

Electric trucks are going to be a tough sell. One thing these don't have right now is tow range. For everyday people hauling they're fine, but that 350 mile range will diminish rather quickly when hauling a trailer or large load in the back. Not that you can haul too much in a 5 foot bed. I have a feeling the HUMMER EV is going to be strictly a fashion show, just like the H2 was back when it came out. Yes, it is very capable just like the H2, but you don't dare do it. I mean it's 100k. The best off roader? Lol, the one you don't mind bashing up.

Overall though it does look like a nice truck with a lot of tech thrown in. But I think they should have gone the Cybertruck route and had tougher body panels and bulletproof glass. In 20 to 30 years the Cybertrucks will still be rust free and dent proof bodies will have held up quite better. HUMMER EV, pretty much same as every other truck out there. Just pointing that out because that's about the time it will take for me to afford one of these expensive toys. Until then I'll keep my H2 going.
