They had "the" perfect chance to do this right. I.e. put a turbo diesel in it (by the way the new Escalade will have one so they have it available), make it as capable as the previous Hummers, add an open air version to compete with Jeep (perhaps convert that version as an EV variant), and bring it back as its own line...but sell it at the Cadillac dealerships if they don't want to have a separate dealer network. It's rumored to be a premium truck anyway.

I agree with you. Right now, it doesn’t seem convenient to drive EVs for long distances without a lot of planning.
solar panels on roof, or carry a Honda Gen set to keep you going, being that we live in a condo, the closest charging station is at all the new WAWA gas stations....

I cant fathom, charging a Hummer up, I bet that will be interesting ……

Considering the direction GM has been going in lately its hard to remain optimistic on how and what the new H2 will be. My guess from what I have seen so far it will be a rebadged full size GM truck with modified sheet metal, Hummer emblem and 4 huge washing machine motors for a drive train. No engine of any kind and a **** house load of batteries that will cause you whole house to go dim when you plug it in for a charge.

My 06 H2 SUT I truly love but it is getting up there in mileage. As I see it a possible Duramax conversion my be a consideration but my only concerned is Mash motors that does the conversion use LB7 engines pulled out of old 2500/2500HD's for the conversions that are checked but not new or rebuilt, and they haven't been made since way back in 07. If you do go with one of there rebuilt LB7 it really gets expensive and lets face it you have a rebuilt engine in a high mileage vehicle. I wish I could go back to 08 and buy a new one. Haha

I too wish i could go back in time and get a new one . my 04 is already over 200k miles , i had been considering a predator diesel conversion but i can also buy a lower miles H2 for the same amount of the price of the conversion .

You mentioned Predator Diesel conversion, had you compared it to the Mash offering? If so why would you go with Predator, looks like I need to look into them as well. Mash wont use anything but LB7 in Hummers 06 and prior. I asked them about an LP5 but was told because of the electronics they could not do it. I don't doubt if they could use the LP5 that would be optimum especially with all the polution controls stripped out the H2 would be a real monster with all that hp and torque. To me what would really clinch it for me. I fell fairly confident my 06 would stand the test of time especially when all the suspension parts and differentials are GM truck anyway. About the only thing that would be an issue are door panels and interior parts. Time will tell and also how the value of the old units do. Lets face it no one want to dump 30K+ in something that if you wreck it the insurance company will hand you 15k for at best tap you on the head and say go away.

you can always insure with Haggerty. You tell them what you want to insure your truck for. I was going to use them when I was buying an H1.

I looked very carefully into both Predator and Mash spending a great deal of time with their techs on the Phone. Predator is about 30% more then Mash for comparable Diesel conversion. The price really goes up at Predator is you go with a rebuilt Duramax, otherwise Predator will provide you with what is call a "resealed motor" which consists of a used Duramax which has been disassemble, components checked and new gaskets. Mash does something simular but not to the same extent. Mash comes in at approx $28500. vs 34900. for Predator. (you also have to add 2500.00 for a core charge is you wish your old engine, xfer and trans back plus shipping)

As much as I wish to have a Duramax the jury is still out. No doubt that if this price included a fully rebuilt drive train for the $35k I could really see doing this, but that still leaves you with old front and rear diffs, suspension parts
and the limitation of specific H2 Parts.

I was really hoping GM would come out with something special with the Hummer name. So far alll i see is a GM pickup truck with a chopped top and batteries. Not for me. More soul searching will be required.
