I just saw a Herb Chambers Hummer ad in the paper this weekend. I've never done business with them, but it's good to have more choices.

Dobles service dept is great IMO. I didn't love my Sales experience, but the service guys have been good.

....So I think you have nothing to worry about now anymore.
I still have big worries about my H3... like what kind of iPod adapter to get, whether I should put roof lights on it, etc. LOL!

Luckily I have all you on this forum to help with the tough decisions.

Roof light are a hard call if you want to start drilling holes in you new truck. I heard the driving one just shine on you hood if so go with the cab lights.

I heard that too. I will probably look at the cab lights.

I am now at 19,000 mile and my rig is back in for another head and valve job. The first was at around 6k. I was told that they redisigned the head and valves and that I should not have a problem again. Well now at 19k the exact same issue has cropt up. Now i am being told that a mistake was made and that i recieved the same head and valve and this is the reason it's back. My question to anyone who is listening is. for one thing if their is a redesigned head why isn't their a bulletin on this. It seems only my service manager knows that it has been redesigned because not one person from GM has seen any evidence of that and if it is such a freak event then why redisign the parts. obviuosly it is not a localized problem or a build date problem. GM owes me an upfront explanation.

Dennis, Can you let me know if there is a redesign on this and if so isn't that saying that they have a defective part in this vehicle. I'm just trying to sift thru all the BS that may be going on here. Is GM afraid of what this could turn into if it goes to a recall. Hopefully they step up once again and buy the vehicle back. They worked with me on the previous repair and extended my warranty. But this is a whole other issue. I have no faith in driving this vehicle any great distance.

Hi Btstyx,

I'm sorry you're having this trouble..And I will say that it is a fluke that you're having the same problem again...Having said that, it doesn't surprise me that they installed or improperly install the new head at 6000 miles and it went this long...Some dealerships are pretty incompetent...But no, GM does recognize that a handfull by comparision to the number sold, have been fitted with a faulty head... they are giving extended warranties on the fixes..did you get one?

Anyway, it doesn't qualify for a RECALL by definiton of what a national RECALL is all about..It must be a safety issue that puts you the owner in certain peril, risking injury or death..then a Recall is mandated.

So I hope you're all fixed up now and I'm sure you are..So don't worry about it, enjoy it.

BTSTYX:

I still lurk here from time to time...but I turned in my H3 in August for this exact reason...I too had the engine problem at 6,000 miles and then again at 11,000 miles....GM sent the "old" parts to fix the problem so that they could get me back on the road but they "knew" that this was going to happen again - they didn't tell the dealer this when the dealer fixed the problem the first time...but GM knew that these were the old parts. They sent the old parts back because they didn't have the new parts...so it was a temporary fix only. Only thing is, they failed to tell the customer this fact.

I too lost all faith and confidence in GM and the Hummer - so the day they confirmed it was the same issue and the day I found out that GM had pulled a fast one on me, I told them they could keep the vehicle and I cut my losses and traded the vehicle in for a NON GM product. I wouldn't buy another GM product if you paid ME to buy the vehicle. Not worth the headaches. It isn't just the Hummer either - I can assure you.

Good Luck to you - I know how it feels and it sucks,
(former) H3gal

Hi Dennis, I just hate the run around. I was told that at 6k new head design and i should not have a problem. Now this time around told OOPS GM made a mistake and put on the old style. I think It's rather amusing to watch the backpeddling that is going on. I do think the problem is more than a freak thing or a bad batch of heads. How else can you explain a replacement coming from the same batch. I'll tell you right now that I have been in contact with five other people with exact same issue. The fifth being a guy ahead of me in the rental car line that the head and valves went at 30k. I don't know the total from my dealership alone but at the time of the first repair they were up to 16. Not to mention the people on this forum and others around the country with the same issue. Ultimately the responsability lies with GM to make things right and the only way to make it right with me is to buy back the vehicle. If it is so rare they should have no issue with this.

I purchased my 2006 H3 Oct 2005. Since then, it has been in the shop 12xs- for "Head and Cylinder" issues. I've had 2 head replacements already and its in the shop as I speak for possibly the 3rd head replacement. I am pursuing arbitration but already have a case with an attorney. Up to now I thought that I just had a "lemon" but as I continue to read these forums I realize its not just my vehicle and could possibly have a "class action" here. If anyone has anymore information, complaints, etc. Please email me
m_roper@bellsouth.net. Thanks

HELLO,
JUST GOT THE ROTTEN NEWS THAT MY HUMMER WILL HAVE TO HAVE THE CYLINDER HEAD CHANGED BECAUSE IT MISFIRED, MAN I'M SO DISAPPOINTED, I DID READ THE INFO TO CALL HUMMER, AND I DID AND THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO GET BACK TO ME ABOUT THIS ON TUES WITH THE WARRANTY AND ALL. I HOPE THEY CAN MAKE IT RIGHT. I REALLY THINK GM KNEW ABOUT THIS PROBLEM ALONG TIME AGO, I WISH I HAD KNOWN. I TRADED A TRAIL BLAZER IN ON IT THAT WAS HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE 4X4. I GOT TIRED OF THAT REAL QUICK. I THOUGHT IT WAS RUNNING ALITTLE ROUGH THEN THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, THEN THEY TOWED IT AND NOW I CAN JUST WAIT, THE DEALERSHIPS SAID THEY WOULD HAVE THE PARTS ON TUESDAY, I SURE HOPE THEY GET IT DONE BEFORE THE 1ST BIG SNOW.[&:]
