You think the filters are hard to get to on your U.S models .... try an Aussie model where the power steer rack blocks the SMALL amount of room that you U.S guys have to actually be able to get to the filter ...

I can only just touch the filter lettle own get a hold of it ...

Im no engineer but why not a remote filter kit from the factory? I mean come on .... this has to be done every 5000 km (3000 miles or so for U.S)

Il try and get a pic of this, it has to be seen to be believed ...

I might actually look for a remote filter kit since I plan on keepin it for a while and like doing my own maintenance.

did not read all pages but if you want to avoid oil running over your cross member then get an old jugs of some sort cut the bottom out, hold the jug underneath and aim passed the cross member into the drain pan

 

I changed the oil on my 06 H3 a few hours ago. The oil drain bolt on mine is 15mm not 13mm. The OPs directions are spot on.
One thing I've found useful for oil changes is a pair of Channel Locks to unscrew the oil filter. These came in handy today as the oil filter is kind of hidden away. Since I don't re-use oil filters I get a good hold with the channel locks and unscrew. The filter gets deformed a little but who cares it's getting tossed anyway.
I hand tighten the new filter.

Its next to impossible to change my 2008 Hummer H3 oil filter bought new 2009 in New Zealand, judging from the worn out label on the filter I doubt the dealer change them when send in for a service annually, thought I decided to perform the service myself this year so, is there anybody out there whom can show me step by step in how to change this impossible to change oil filter please? thanks heap.

I changed my oil twice already and went to do it a third time last night. Maybe I'm just stupid or I was tired but I couldn't get the drain plug out. Which way does it turn again? I felt the bolt starting to strip so I just gave up for now.
