What say ye? Will the Hummer brand ever be resurrected, or is it really the end forever.

 

GM still owns the brand. If they can get the gov't out of their business, and emissions/cafe standards don't make it impractical, then yes. Not sure about the H2, but the H3 and possible H4/HX still make sense.

As I've mentioned in another thread, I'd be happy to see them them come out with updated versions under the Chevy/GM brand. Chevrolet H2/H3, etc.. I couldn't care less which GM company brand they are sold under.

The only chance it had was to be sold to China. It wasn't so it's last gasp has been spent.

In todays world there is no place for it.

It died for very valid reasons.

 

Your opinion is noted but it's a generalization. The same could be said for countless things that are still in production with no plans to cease.

 

It is not at all generalized.

And in a free and real market something that doesn't sell shouldn't still be in production.

 

We couldn't keep Hummer's on the lot at our dealership. I hope they come back but I'm not holding my breath.

 

I believe as soon as we get the left wing liberal obama out of office, and the country is back on track economically then Hummer will be back.

Sucessfull folks love to have their toys. The problem isn't the fuel economy with the Hummer as many other vehicles get similar gas mileage. The problem is with the whiny socialist left wing loons who hate the military, hate sucessful people, and feel everyones wealth should be redistributed. These are the true Hummer haters. GM borrowed money from the government and I am sure that this had something to do with the brand being retired. Also with a sinking economy its visibally a marketing move not to continue to sell Hummers.

Unfortunately any talk of Hummer coming back as a GM production vehicle is wishful thinking.

I am going to leave the political speculation to others on the board and base my statement on numbers.

For the production year 2008 which was the most successful year for the most affordable Hummer (H3) GM only produced 31,142 of these vehicles.

These numbers simply were not and are not high enough to sustain a brand that at best has really bad image problems with the mainstream public.

I wish I was wrong because I love my H3 Alpha and believe that if Hummer were still around, I would no doubt buy another one.

As much as I hate to say it, Oldsmobile and Pontiac have a better chance of coming back than Hummer does. Not going to happen.
