Default New with question HELP

Why thank you for the help.

I must find a new 4WD now, another driver totaled my fj.

I found one with an Adventure package. it has front and rear locks, 5.3 V8 (Championship addition?, thats the 5.3L engine) Off road suspension PKG.....blah....blah

Most think that if you get the adventure package you also automatically get the Alpha package. That's what I thought....until i came across a site that lists tow weight data. Seems they say that the Alpha with the 5.3 can tow 6000lb. Then they list the 5.3L on with really no package named that can only tow 3000lb Now they list BOTH engines 300hp 5200rpm & 239hp at 5800rpm both tow 3000. The only one that tows 6000lb is the Alpha. Someone who is very familure with these vehicles please provide me the correct answer. Is the Adventure engine pkg different from the Alpha. Truck I'm looking at has not one Alpha badge. But I do have the build sheet and "YP8" is on it and "ZM6" off road pkg, LT285/75R16 all the way around. Thanks for the help!

The adventure package has nothing to do with the engine. The Alpha is the 300hp V8, non-Alpha is the 239hp L5.

Adventure pkg includes a lower geared transfer case (4:1 instead of 2.64:1) and the lockers.

Oh, great news! Just wanted to know how the truck ended up with the V8 in it with no Alpha tags?

It's possible that a previous owner removed the Alpha badge from the back door, but the front headrests and the steering wheel should still have the Alpha badging on them.

Have you looked under the hood to verify that it's the V8?

The 5-cylinder has a 4500lb towing capacity (3000lbs if a manual trans), the Alpha (V8) has a 6000lb towing capacity (with a load-distributing hitch, 5000lb without).

Adventure package (also known as Off-Road pkg depending on year/model) comes with larger tires (285 instead of 265) and slightly different valved shocks, along with the lower transfer case gearing and lockers that I already mentioned. That is the ZM6 code that you mentioned. I have no idea what the YP8 code is.

Thank you for the help.
My build sheet says, and I quote;

"Championship Edition includes engine 5.3L V8
(Replaces std/opt engine)"

Yes it is a V8 w/no Alpha Badging.

On further investigation, it appears that the "Championship Edition" came with V8, Cloth seats/Monsoon sound system/Red Shocks and Brake Calipers/Hood Sticker/285/75R16(33”) tires. The addition of the Adventure Pkg would also add the 4:1 transfer case, black accents, and front & rear lockers. So it may not have the "Alpha" designation anywhere after all.

Sounds like a very nice combo, though, IF it's in good condition.

Rock sliders, UCP, fender flares...definitely looks like a nice combo.
