Default Adding GM chrome fuel door to base model

Hi guys,

First post, just got our H3! I'm thinking of adding the GM chrome fuel door (I prefer the look of the original part versus the aftermarket ones I've seen). I hear this is fairly straight forward, but also that the when you install it on the stock model, it doesnt quite fit as snug as the one's that come installed at the factory. Has anyone done this? (on the GM part) How is the fit? Also, is there an additional part that comes with the factory installed chrome fuel doors that makes them fit better? (can this part be purchased separately?)

Carlos

It should fit fine. It comes as a kit and instructions.

I thought those are not factory installed. The dealer install them, as far as I know all accessories are dealer install. You can order them as part of the factory invoice but the dealership install them when the truck comes in.

I agree, the dealer can be a rip! Try online first. It will look fine. It;s the other aftermarket ones that tend to not fit flush against the fender. The OEM door has a large gasket that seals around the fender.

That's EXACTLY what I'm looking for! [sm=exactly.gif] So does that rubber molding around the door come with it? How does it attach?

You pull out the factory plastic one. They give you a pattern you tape it to the truck and drill a few hole and put theses metal tabs in then push on the cover then if the rubber does not sit flush with the fender take out the tabs inside the wheel well put you hand in there let some one hold a towel against the gas door and tap where the clips are with a rubber hammer.Should take five min.
