Default 2006 h3 traction control

was wondering on how to fully turn off traction control on a 2006 H3. if I hold down the button for 10 seconds it says the stability system is off but Im pretty sure it doesn't actually turn off traction control. my front breaks are gone because traction control doesn't turn off when I wheel and I wheel pretty much everyday.

Or ....................... it could be you have a 2006 with a bunch of miles on the front brakes?

From that little book in the glove box:
"To turn the system off, press and release the
TCS button located on the instrument panel.
This light will come on steady when the traction
control system has been turned off. This light flashes
when TCS is active.
If you press the TC button once, the traction control
system will turn off and a TRAC OFF message
will appear on the DIC. Press the TC button again to
turn the system back on. The TRAC OFF message will
then go off. The traction control system will reset
itself at each ignition cycle. If your vehicle also has
StabiliTrak®, see StabiliTrak® System (Automatic
Transmission) on page 4-11 for more information."

Crazy how that book describes operating your vehicle.

Tim, you state you wheel "pretty much everyday".
But you ask if you have a locker, or 4:56 gears, Traction Control defeat and lift?

Lets first try to figure out what you have and your needs.
You have an 06 H3 that much we know.
Can you post a photo of the 4x4 controls, interior and exterior pix would also help to see what factory options you have.
What "type" of wheeling are you doing "pretty much everyday"?
What are you trying to modify? To gain what?

Yeah I don't have lockers. But there's nothing to do where I live so I just go mess around on trails. Most of them are sand, some mud, some climbing rocks. But I hold the tc button down for 10 seconds and all it says is "stability system off" but whenever I'm in mud and my wheels are spinning I still here that clicking noise which I assume is traction control. And right now I'm deployed and I'm just trying to see what I can do to it when I come back to make it look and perform better

That's been a debate on this forum for years, no matter what it says on the DIC, I think it has been concluded that you can't turn the Traction Control off. Only the Stabilitrac.

Good luck with that.

I do know that 08-10 H3 & H3T with the Adventure/OffRoad package can turn off ALL traction assist items by pressing the Hutton for 10-15 seconds. When you engage the locker/lockers ALl of the traction assist items disengage too.

Never owned an 06 or 07 so I can't day for sure.

I have an '06 H3. You can turn off the traction control or the vehicle stability control but not both at the same time. If you really want it off, try removing an ABS fuse or relay. Not sure what will happen and do so at your own risk.
