SNOW TIRES ON H2

SNOW TIRES ON H2
Came back from NH just before Xmas, got caught in the friday snow storm. Sat on the road for 3 1/2 hours in Mystic,CT 'til they cleared a jack-knifed semi, a roll-over flatbed, and a hand full of cars and trucks!
When I got home found out that the OEM BFG's just do not cut it when there's 8-12" of fresh snow on the paved ski slope that is my driveway. On the flats and mild hills she'll barrell along. The oem footprint is too large for steep inclines at low speed.
I just put new Mich's winter tires (non-studded) on my ford while they are much smaller (265-70R16) 31" dia and narrower I also have 4.30 gears. I put her down in 1 and 4H crawled up. The H2 would not crawl at all! Too much torque and not enough gear to offset the tall tires. Could not get a bite and she would slide sideways down the drive. didn't seem to matter if TC2 was selected or not. AWD or 4H, or diff lock. could not dig through the packed snow to dig into the ground.
SOOOOOOO......Now I'm looking for a set of Severe snow tires, maybe with studs. They have to have a larger lug than the AT's. Anyone out there in the snow states have a tire they coould recommend? (Tire brand, model and size)
Thanks. post or PM
