Yet another radio question
Hey,
so the thing is, i want to change my 07" monsoon radio for 2din central panel. Is that really true that if i change radio, my monsoon speakers will sound worse? Because i want to change ONLY radio. And another question, what would be a good 2din unit with NAV, bluetooth, aux in that works good with h3, and i can take off frontal panel (so nobody can steal it)? Regards! |
You ask for allot, but there are some units out there that meet most of what you ask for
The Alpine and Pioneer units are pretty good, but a removable front panel was a feature back in the single DIN days. I personally don't know of any double DIN units that have that feature Alpine INA-W910 Navigation receiver at Crutchfield Signature Also, I can't imagine why any new head unit would not work with the Monsoon speakers and sub woofer. As long as the impedances of the speakers is similar with the head unit you should be fine. Where did you hear it would not sound right ?? |
https://www.hummerforums.com/forum/h...peakers-16173/ for example here,
The monsoon sytems sounds great for a amplified Factory system, if you keep the OEM radio. I upgraded to AVIC F 900 and the power was just too much for those Paper Cone Speakers. |
If you can't remove the faceplate, camouflage it.:D

Are sure about those paper cone material? I thought polypropylene has been used for years I am not sure Broken Halo- I like that dummy face plate idea |

i thought the new head unit would drive the existing monsoon amp which drives the speakers so wouldnt the impedance be ok, or do you get rid of the stock amp

@Broken Halo, i'd rather go with something with removable faceplate.
@Drtom, nope, im changing ONLY radio, but still i as posted above, some people claim changing OEM radio makes audio quality worse. |
