Windshield wipers quit working
We just got hammered by an ice storm. I cleaned off the windshield this morning and turned the wipers on. They went about halfway across the winshield and just stopped. I cleaned out all around the base and tried them again but they were completely dead. Does this sound like a blown fuse?

If wiper motor is labored with ice, despite your cleaning efforts, then
yes, it could be as simple as a blown fuse. Just too much load on the motor. Check fuse and make sure all ice is cleaned away. Not driving until the spring thaw is another option, sic. |
It's happened to me before, and it has not always been a blown fuse... There's something with the design, that when labored the motor either over heats (I know even in subzero temps) or has an auto shut off of some sort, give it time and it will work again... I had my go out last winter and i stopped to get a coffee, came back outside and they worked fine...

Thanks guys, I'll check the fuse tonight. Do you know if the wiper fuse in under the hood or in the cab?
|
On a 07 H3 it is fuse #6 for front wiper
Remember, wiper is also protected buy a breaker Check owners manual, page 417/418 It covers your failure you mention and DAGKANA is correct It could have over heated and needs to cool off |
Cool, I found it. Does the breaker need to be reset manually or does it reset itself? Thanks again.
|
if they arn't working u may need to swap that breaker with another to check it. it should have reset soon after.
|
Well I went out after work yesterday and as soon as I started it up they started working. Awesome. Thanks for the tips guys!
