I had a broken one on my truck and I replaced it since it started making noise like a bad lifter until the truck warmed up. I just didn't like to hear that noise, other than that I don't think it will affect your truck at all unless more bolts break.

I agree about the noise . but I dont want to get involved in the fix whixh seems to be hard just for a noise . Thats what Im trying to find out if the problem stop on the noise or may damage or cause malfunction.
Thx

My 08 makes that noise and I have always thought it IS a bad lifter. Once the truck is warmed up the noise goes away. Where are these broken bolts located and are there any pictures or write up on how to fix? Again, mine is the 6.2, does it have the same problem?

A broken bolt won't damage the truck but those hot exhaust gases may eventually find its way into your truck. The fix is labor intensive. Really depends on where on he bolt did it break. If part of bolt is sticking out a little then you can grab it with pliers and just unscrew it out but if none of he bolt is sticking out then you have to drill a hole into bolt and use special tools to extract it. If noise goes away then it's a broken exhaust bolt. See my other post with the link explaining the issue and how to fix it.

ARP makes a nice stud kit to replace the OEM bolts.

I have an after market exhaust. I'll have to crawl under there and put a wrench on the bolts to see what is going on. But at least I have something to check out. I just assumed it was a lifter or something.

I did too but once truck got warm and noise went away I knew it had to be something with the exhaust. Thank your stars its not a lifter, much bigger job and costly.
