Water Pump Leaking

Anyone else had their water pump go out on a 2007 H3 at roughly 66,000 miles? I am taking mine in tomorrow and I am almost positive this is the issue but wanted to be sure.

Mine went....2008 at about 75,000.....Covered under 100,000 powertrain warranty, no charge from dealer!

Have them replace the belt if it got coolant on it and check the idler pully.
Sounds obvious and I asked to have that done, but when I picked it up the belt was screaming and the idler pulley was rattling.

When my water pump shows some leaks, it has to be changed and was also covered by warranty replacement parts for hummer was free of charge. They had my water pump replaced. I know that it is really recommended to be replaced once problem occurs.

I heard that lots of GM waterpumps start leaking due to deteriorating rubber seals. Mine is weaping a little bit and was advised to put some seal tabs in which I did yesterday. ($8)

If it keeps on leaking I will probably change it out myself. Never done that but looked it up on youtube and it is a fairly simple thing to do. Having the pump replaced on my truck (H2) would be about $375

Got mine replaced just before the warranty went out, I got lucky

NLHummer, Water pumps for H2's only run from $57 to a little over a hundred bucks. Where did you price your water pump from?

Water pumps have a weep hole where coolant will start to leak when the pump is starting to go bad. Adding seal tabs will not stop the water pump from going bad. It may only curb leaks coming from elsewhere. Also using the wrong kind of seal tabs can result in premature water pump failure. to me they are just not worth using.

Can you see where on the pump the leak is coming from? Sometimes it can be the gasket if it is torn or cracked, and if not that it is the weep hole giving you warning that the pump is going bad and it's time for a new pump. I would get it done soon to avoid total water pump failure which can result in some terrible problems.

The $375 was incl installation. Installation did not look that difficult to do though.
I was told by my repairshop that on these waterpump the gasket deteriorates and that the tablets (picked up at GM dealer) would stop it. So far so good anyway.

Does changing coolant have effect on improving life? Did anyone with issues change their coolant as preventative but still had seal failure?
