Default Twitching\Intermitent Engine Temp Gauge

Hi All,

I have a 2010 Alpha with 6k on the clock.

This past weekend I noticed that my engine temp gauge would just twitch and stay on the bottom of the range. Yes I checked again after driving the car for several miles - it didn't budge.

Then on some start ups it would go to a normal reading.

I have no CEL.

I'm thinking its the gauge itself not a sensor problem.

Any thoughts?

I will end up taking it to the dealer as its still under warranty.

I am glad to hear that you are planning to work with your local dealership. Please feel free to keep me posted. Thank you in advance.

Tricia, GM Customer Service.

DDNGUY, take it into the dealer and have them fix it. You are under warranty and you will get a loaner vehicle. Sounds like there is something loose between the temp sensor and the gauge. There are so many things this could be I don't want to speculate on it.

PLEASE, come back and let us know what fixed the problem so others that may have the same issue as you and are Not under warranty know what needs to be done. That is how this forum works. If you find out some info on a repair post it up for others to use in the future. I'm sure your help will come back to you at least 2 fold.

I'm becoming more and more convinced that Peggy/Tricia IS a 'robo poster'. After all the sh*t we've given, a real person would have either tried to defend themselves, or lashed out back at us!

Doc....members have been banned and locked out from the forum.....isn't there a way you can get rid of this person/machine?

Hi All,

O.K. - I went to the dealer last Saturday and after turning the key to the on and off position it seemed to be o.k.

The dealer ordered me a new indtrument cluster.

We really think it is just a stickfaulty gauge.

I will update you all once its been replaced.

At least the dealer ordered a new cluster for ya instead of a NPF (no problem found) or CNR (could not replicate)!

Hello everyone,

So I dropped the car off this past Saturday as now my temp gauge is completely stuck on Hot now...

Today I pucked up the vehicle and all is well.

They replaced the instrument cluster and its perfect.

They also fixed the hood louver because of the recall.

I am very satisfield.

FYI - the instrument cluster just pops out, no need to remove any of the dash.

thanks.
