Turbonetics H3 turbo kits
 
Be fare warned that it is not as it says, it has taken months of my time to make it work right, turbonetics customer service is bad, I had to return the turbo and my car was down for 4 weeks, the kit is nice in its infantile state but needs a good engineer to fine tune and work out the bugs unfortunately turbonetics does not want to do that they rather work them out on there customers. I finally have the kit working with a lot of modifications and help. Defiantly not a plug in play item, I will say this that once it works its like bringing out a demon I the H3 most stock V8 can not touch me. There is however with any turbo or supercharger up grade a problem with the stab trac system it doesn’t like it so you will have a constant eng light and stab track failure alarm, does not affect performance but is irritating, and no one will tell you about this till after you spend the thousands of dollars it takes to get the kit working.

In close I have driven the 08 alpha v8 and i would keep the money for the kit as a down payment for the new H3 and save some long term head aches, i guess in close as far as turbonetics goes run run run fare away from them.

Sorry to hear about all your trouble getting the turbo to work right... I hate when company release products before they really should...

Newbie H3/I5 question... How much boost are you running? (intercooled?) What kind of boost can the stock I5 take?

With the H3 compression ratio of 10:1, which was not designed for boost, if you have significant boost, you will definitely have valve and head issues with both the 06 and 07. When you build a turbo or supercharger motor, 8.5:1 or 9:1 tops is what you should be shooting for pre boost. Good luck on keeping that thing together:)

Interestingly I read in some very old posts that people were saying the H3 has "low" compression engine. I disagree, it is on the high end of middle of the road, anything 10.25:1 is widely considered high compression for a gas engine. Some old muscle cars ran it up to 12.5:1, but running them on pump gas is a treat.[:'(]

wow.... 10:1 is definitely not low! I agree a bit on the high side for boost... my stang was 9.7:1 running 12 PSI on 93 octane... What are the internals like on the I5?

I run from 5 to 7 psi of boost. I would not run more than 8 that would be max for this engine. At 7 pounds the I5 comes alive. Im able to keep up with and some times over take most stock V8 engines of the line. The spoil up on the turbo is quick which causes one of the problems with the stab track system. I'm currently however returning the turbo for the 2nd time for repairs for some reason the turbo its self keeps blowing oil seals.

Lets be honest now, what you are saying is that when you give it gas you dont get a stab trak failure alarm. Because I know three H3 with this kit in them and every one gets the alarm and it is constant and all the time. I would challange you to pull the down pipe off the intercooler to see the oil in it. also 2000 miles is nothing. Im on my secound wastegate down tube they all crack. something fun about your picks also, hmm looks like the ones found at turbonetics notice you are new member so i would question you lots. I'm new but like i said i have there friends with H3 that have this kit and we are all having nothing but problems and turbonetics is rude and not willing to work with you at all. Last time they relpaced my turbo it took them 3 weeks to repair and return it to me. I have been waiting over two weeks know to get the new dump tube from them.

Did you do a baseline dyno pull without the Turbo?

Wow, interesting to me is that the dump tube you are using in the pictureis not the onein turboneticskit, second you said the waste gate you know have you changed which means it is different then the kit? So you have had to modify it from the original is what you are saying? second you still didn’t answer the alarm question. Also it is interesting to me that you are talking dyno test, a H3 is AWD so that takes a special Dyno, not a lot of them out there. So in conclusion I still think that you work for turbonetics and are trying to pull a fast one on the nice people of this forum. Thirdly you only have put 2000 miles on toy H3 since July? I will put that on in a month, hmmm seems like a demo car to me watch out people.

I was having the same problems with my kit. Jesse had Turbonetics reprogrammy computer and now i'm not getting any check engine lights or traction control lights. I also have had to replace my wastegate tubing. Just finished checking for oil in my cooler and yes I have that problem to. I will contact them friday about the oil in my cooler.

Its amazing to me how your story has changed since the begining of your original post, now its more than that simple crack in a tube. I have spoke with turbonetics several times and they have yet to offer a repair to the check engine light. I will be researching this Jesse guy because as far as turbonetics is concerned the light cant be fixed. SO Next time you pipe in on a forum be prepared to have your bluff called its not nice to lie to people.

yes it was a baseline,only pulled 5 1/2lbs.the new wastegate was a new style.Anymore boost and it leaned out.Called turbonetics and asked what there h3 made and they said 256hp,but there's was pulling 8lbs.I put the photos up on there website,when i was done.I just went outside and took these.
Actually I asked if you had done a baseline WITHOUT the turbo.... wondering what types of gains you are getting...

Ok... assuming Turbonetics was using the lower HP 2006 H3, rated at 220 HP, they seen 256 HP... ok, i'll have to read up on AWD dynos to see how that all works... How much loss is there in an H3 between the crank and the wheels? In a standard RWD car with an automatic the number is typically 17% to 20%.. So even if I use a number like 25% for the H3... that means at the crank you would be looking at about 320 HP... so they gained between 80 to 100 HP at the crank... on 8 PSI... wow? that's seems quite a small gain for 8 PSI.... I would have hoped that at 8 PSI it would be over 300HP at the ground...

SCRMING I dont think that AIRTRUCK will be able to answer your questions he is do busy trying to clean up his story. According to turbonetics the 06 H3 I5 Dyno was 350HP with 97% octane. How they tested or did that who knows. I will tell you there are solutions to the problems with the kit, but getting turbonetics to listen first and then work with you on the fix is another thing. First of all the are using a wet bearing turbo instead of a dry, because of the vibration genarated by the I5 and the cheap mount they made the seals in the wet turbo just dont last and that is where the oil in the cooler is coming form. If they would simple change to a dry bearing turbo they would have much better luck. Secound the dump tube in the kit is not as robuse as the one shown in AIRTRUCK's H3, If they actually shipped that one there would not be an issue there. and last if they actually would reprogram the CPU like JN1300R states then this kit would be the hotest selling item on the market today. There are some other simple problems like using the wrong bolts, you have a casted turbo that they want to use stanles steal bolts on, so lets talk metals and expansion rates, soem in engineering wasnt paying attention in class, Easy fis though. I have been working on this kit since June trying to work the bugs out of it because it does work well when everything is working. The biggest problem is turbonetics wont listen and doesnt care.

Ok... 350HP is more of what I would expect at 8 PSI.. I did look, there are some AWD dynos here in Michigan... I however must resist temptation... LOL! Of course 97 Octane is a bit odd... wonder where they came up with that? Here in Michigan we can get Sunoco Ultra 94... or your running like 100+ race gas at the track...

I'm sorry to hear Turbonetics is lacking in the customer service department... that is one thing about a company i will not tolerate. There is simply no excuse for that...

sorry i misunderstood you it was not a base line never had it done stock.here is the request for the new wastegate downpipe.

and here is the letter they sent to me with the new pipe,I called them when i recieved it and said it looked different they said it was a new style.

here is the dyno from central florida turbo they had an awd dyno they said that there was about an 80% loss because of the awd.

I'm not saying that they are the best,but i've had no problems.Also my kit is on an 07 maybe a little different.and that was with 93 octane

Ummmm... 80% Loss? That's basically impossible... that would me I'm only getting about 50HP to the ground... I think that might be reversed... 20% Loss... Also a Mustang Dyno typically reads lower than the Dyno Jet dyno (which is what most people use). The number we usually use is a MD is about 12% less than a DJ dyno... so your 256 becomes 286... that's more in line with 5 PSI...

Now... you dyno chart... any chance you can darken it up? Something does not look right, but I can't see anything other thant the curves....

BTW, add another victim to the list having issues with this kit and getting nowhere with Turbonetics straightening it out. I can't really elaborate right now, but any issues you other guys have had, and the fix you might have had would be greatly appreciated, and as soon as I can, I'll share what I can, mostly any fixes for those that already have the kit. Thanks.

JN1300R I JUST BOUGHT THE KIT, WAITING ON THE REFLASH COMPUTER, CAN YOU HALPE ME WITH SOME FEEDBACK? I WOULD GREATLY APPRECIATE IT.
I HAVE HEARD SOME PROBLEMS BUT WANTED TO KNOW FIRST HAD FROM SOMEONE THAT HAS IT.

I ACTUALLY POSTED SOME ISSUES I DONT KNOW IF YOU HAD THEM TOO.

modern automotive turbonetics can run as high as 220,000 RPM. The bearings are a critical component, usually hydrodynamic types with floating bushings are used. It's one of many reasons why turbos are manufactured by highly specialized outfits.
