Tuff Country 4" lift
So I want to put a TC 4" lift on my truck with 35" tires. Their site says it will require new wheels as the OEM ones won't fit.
The thing, is that I really like my OEM wheels. They're high quality, look great, and are hummer branded. They're also not huge and gaudy which is a definite plus since I've never been a "bling bling" kind of guy. I even want to get them powder coated eventually. Is there any way to retain my OEM wheels? Spacers maybe? I just don't know enough about this topic to figure it out on my own. I've thrown around enough car audio knowledge on the forums here that I figure someone who knows more about this than I do might throw me a bone. Thanks! |
Also, whats the difference between the add a leaf 4" kit, and the leaf spring 4" kit besides price?
Are leaf springs better? I would assume so based on price.... |

Ok so after research it seems spacers are out of question since they're not really good for your vehicle.
I guess I'll just end up buying new wheels with the appropriate offset. I see that the tuff country lift says... "Rim Backspacing: 4.5" of less (new rims required" I think this means I'll need a negative offset, but now how do I know how much of an offset do I need? -10, -12, more, less? Hey, at least I'm making the effort to educate myself here. ;) |
Thats true

wheel spacers aren't any worse on your vehicle then offset wheels that have the same offset as long as you get actual wheel spacers and not the cheesey ones. The only thing you have to worry about with wheel spacers over offset wheels is more lug nuts to tighten. With offset wheels or spacers your putting the same strain on the wheel bearings.

Better go for new leaf springs...better ride quality!
No harm to use spacers...as mentioned look for good fitment/quality. Post some pics if done...please. |
