Alright Dennis. Thank for the info. The rebuild is out of the question. :/ I have replaced transmissions in audi's, my dads 1975 corvette stingray (from auto to manual) and a Mazda. I have the tools to do the full swap so I just need the transmission itself. I can either

1. Find a used one and pray it never happens again

2. Buy a rebuilt tranny. Monster transmission quoted me a tranny rebuilt and shipped to my house for $1700. They also warrantee it for 3 years unlimited miles.

Any other recommendations on brands of company's to rebuild.

Definately take it to a shop. The possible combinations of mechanical and electronic issues are deep. It sounds like slipping and rebuild time to me, but I'm no expert. I do know an expert, and last year I brought him my Vette and about $1500.00. And four days later he gave me back my car with a rebuilt tranny and a warranty. And as it turned out two days later when it wouldn't shift normally I brought it back into the shop where he tore it back out, completely diassembled and inspected his work, replaced a sticky solenoid then put it all back together, two days in out no charge. I never will understand why warranty work only takes half the tire of repair work. But never the less it's worked perfectly since. Shifts better faster and stronger than ever no headaches.

At 119,000 miles, my trans lost od,going down I95 at 75 mph, checkjed oil and was full, went another 10 miles in 3rd gear and lost that,1/2 way home, ran in 2nd Gear at 25 mph,for another 3 miles to the house, took it to my shop to see what happend, and the took it for a test drive and lost 2nd gear,so i took it to AAMCO trans shop, come to find out the oil pump failed and burned up all the oil and the drive disks....end cost $3,540.00 with all new HD clutches and parts, took 4 days to have done.....with a 36,000 mile warrenty...eastest way for me....

The hummer H2 Transmission is the same that goes into the Chevy Corvette.....

.!!!!!!!!!make sure to replace the rear main engine seal when you have this done!!!!!!

Good Luck,Rick

Sorry about the bad luck with the tranny, but it sounds like you made the right choice I'm sure you'll be happy with your decision.
