Transmission Fluid => Amsoil?
I searched this and didn't find it. I want to change my transmission fluid and replace with Amsoil. But I understand that the transmission holds fluid that doesn't come out when you drop the pan. How do you get the rest of it out of there so you can replace it all?

Short answer, you don't. You'll need a machine to flush all of it.

When you drop the pan, before you put it back on with a fresh gasket, add a bung (a weld nut) for a drain plug. If you do not have a welder there are add a bung kits out there, I think B&M makes one, or take it to a place that will add one for you.
Then you can put it all back together, fill the 5Qts you drained out, and drive it for a couple weeks. Pull your drain plug, then add 5 Qts fresh again. That's what I do. Added a 12MM X 1.75 Weld nut front driver side corner, use a Fumoto F107S with lever clip. No more spilling fluid all around pulling the pan. :cool: |

I replied to the previous response before I saw yours. Thanks!
I have not put my UCP back on since I pulled it to paint the frame cross members and re-paint the UCP, so before somebody says that the Fumoto sticks down too far.... blah, blah... it is well protected with the UCP in place for all kinds of wheeling w/o issue. I also have a regular drain plug bolt in the glove box. https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.hum...9c816057c4.jpg |
