transfercase drain and fill plugs threadlocker/sealant ??

"Newbie" picked up very nice mid production 07 H3X for a new to me family ride. Changed from a really pristine 91 K5 blazer to a Hummer "Love It". Had a great one owner no issues history, one minor warranty boot repair. +Service history by local hummer dealer. Very clean low kms. Very similar 4 wheel drive capabilities to my old k5 has been a great addition to the growing family (now 2 young boys). (wonder why gm skipped the childproof rear door locks)
1 Question... the drain plugs on the t-case have sealer like white/cream colored threadlocker.
Is it neccesary to use thread sealer again on drain and fill plugs??
seen a few posts here on the t case subject and one youtube vid on 50k mile service did not see or read in posts here or anywhere about any sealer being cleaned off or reaplied for that matter. if yes what to use. also same for diffs or ? been underneath the new hummer a bit... looks very nice to work on and well designed/built.
Happy new hummer owner!

Hello and Welcome from MI! EVERY vehicle produced after 200? has rear door security locks (mandated by some government "nanny" agency). Open the rear doors use your ignition key to turn the "lock" to the front of the vehicle and you are done if you have them.

As far as the thread locker on the t-case. If you plan on keeping your H3 for a while I would use some Anti-Seize on the bolt so you can get it out after another 50K or whenever you need to service the t-case.

thanks guys! this is one great forum...

I was researching for a fairly long time before buying this h3 also have a weekend driver 65 nova ss been a member of steve nova site and nnn for a very long time. Have to say there are a lot of great guys and topics/ info on here. Any owner or perspective future buyer can learn a lot what to look for in buying or troubleshoot as well as preventative maint. Plan on being a hummer owner for many years to come, it fits the family and our outdoorsy/+city lifestyle well. We took many trips in the in backwoods of b.c. with old realiable K5 never left us stuck anywhere. Just needed to step up with 4 doors but did not want to downgrade as far as 4x4 capabilities. Thanks Tainter for the rear seat lock tip, the wife was concerned for the touchy fingers in the rear if ya know what I mean L.O.L.!

The H3's produced before 2-1-2007 did not have Child Safety Locks. I know my 06 didn't and my 08 did. I did a search on this fourm and found several threads on this issue. That is where I got my information. I assume it is correct.

no child locks....

Mine was built mid dec 06 child locks as it turns out were early feb 07 oh well have to keep the boys tighter in there car seats fortunatly they can't reach the door handle from there...yet (still have very short arms.) Found the "correct" t-case sealer gm used
Drain Plug Pipe Sealant GM part #usa 12346004 /cdn10953480

Fill Plug Pipe Sealant GM part #usa 12346004 /cdn10953480
Called permatex just to see what they recommend... that gm part number cross references to permatex high temperature thread sealant # 59214 (6ml tube)# 59235 (50ml tube)

Thanks, I thought it was some time between 2006-2007 that's why I put the 200? on it.
