Transfer case and skidplates

This is really a two part question. First off, the adventure package advertises a 4.03:1 transfer case ratio. Is this different than the base model? If so, what is the ratio for those models?? Also, has anyone made something like this? http://www.teakatoys.com/Hummer_H3_S..._p/ma-tcs2.htm
I just can't see paying for that. I could buy the materials for less than 50 bucks and make it, i have the tools. I'm curious as to the best way to mount it? Maybe carriage bolts as to prevent them from being shredded off?
Thanks ahead of time for any info. [sm=thanx.gif]

thats just a piece of metal with predrilled holes,i wouldnt use carrage bolts though,no way to hold them,we have some button head bolts here that require an allen wrench which would work great

The standard H3 I5 has a T Case ratio of 2.64:1 and a transfer case skid plate is standard on all? So you're correct, why would anybody pay that price for a different plate than they already have????

There is an alternate under body armor consisting of welded tube grids, it's two separate pieces, you can order one of each or a combo. Looks much stronger than that solid metal plate which doesn't look very thick or strong compared to the square tubing body armor available for about $275 for the set. I don't have it but I will probably add it to mine. You can find these on ebay.

I'd like a version of the t-case skidplate for the H2.... I have that dumb little one that collects items from the trip each time....

I agree - pretty straightforward install (though some have had trouble with the attachment points lining up) and gave me a sense of security in my recent off-road adventures.
