Trailer brake wiring

Hi All,

I want to add a trailer brake controller to a new to me 03 H2, If it matters its a adventure model.

It looks like a previous owner already pulled the wire for the electric brakes from the bumper socket to under the dash.

I need to locate a wire from the 'cold' side of a brake bulb. Anyone done this that can point me to a under dash connection?

Looking under he dash I see a connector block with a set of connectors labeled "Trailer Brake Wiring"
What is this? The manual is about useless.

Here are pics.

The connector hanging there is apparently for the off road lights. Its brown, the label for the "trailer brake wiring' said BRN. I connected them and the lights work. (They previously did not)

I somehow don't think that off road light plug belongs there.

Any input appreciated

Thank you

Hi you are not going to like this, you are meant to have trailer plugged in or the off road lights not both thats the way it comes the hummer.Check this picture Attachment 3165

Thanks for setting me straight!

Thats the oddest thing I've ever seen (related to autos).
You get either the Off Road lights or trailer brakes. Weird...

I guess I'm going to go the old fashion route and tap into the brake light cold wire, use the already run brake lead and run separate wires to the battery.

This does enplane why the Off Road lights didn't work, the prev owner had a trailer...

Thank you !

Hi thats why they did not work. I would rewire the off road lights but for you it maybe easier to rewire the trailer wiring.
