But, since i'm in the lovely state of Oregon, we get a TON of rain and do like to go up to the mountain (snow) lookin' for as much input as I can get from people with H3's and putting these tires on them.

Thanks!

Thanks!
On the BFG AT side, I have not been very impressed. I have had BFG AT's on other vehicles and absolutely loved them, but I don't think they are the right tire for the H3. It seems to me that the tread pattern is too tight for the weight of the vehicle and packs the snow into the tread instead of letting it clear itself. Just my .02 cents.

negative ghostrider, think about it the diameter will have changed increasing volume so you will have to put more air in the tire but the pressure will remain constant. the vehicle always weighs the same i have 315s with 30 psi and there is no tire flex ride is smooth and tires wear evenly. I am studying mechanical engineering and use to work for a tire shop,

Default Traction Control ?

I'd like to know if the TPM sending units are also responsible for the traction control function?

I'm considering running my off road tires without the sending units, but I don't want to give up the traction control. I'll admit that I probably don't need it (lockers front and rear), but still ...

Obviously the tire pressure sensing system is seperate from the traction control, but do both of them rely on the TPM devices?

First, working for a tire shop means nothing. I have seen the tire monkeys put 50psi in a tire "cause that's what it says on the tire" (max psi). Second, studying mechanical engineering then you know about contact patch and how that relates to a radial designed tire? Third, a larger than stock tire on a stock rim (narrower that the recommended rim width) will ride on only a portion of the actual tread it was designed to ride on a@ said "door sticker pressure". Thus causing uneven tread wear and an ineffient use of the entire tires contact patch.

Last: Well you state that you run 30 psi on 315s. Well the door sticker you say to go by states what pressure?? Well I just checked BOTH of my HUMMERS and they state 35psi??? Hmmmm, sounds like you don't practice what you preach!

So according to this you recommend that everybody else run the "door sticker PSI" but you yourself don't? Sounds a bit hypocritical wouldn't you say???

They have nothing to do with one another. I use a different rim/tire combo for OffRoad adventures and only run 12-18psi on the trail/sand/rocks/ect. The only thing that you will notice is the message on the DIC that says something about TPSM failure or inactive. Just press the reset stalk for the odometer and it will go away until the next time you start your HUMMER.

Hope this helps!
