Well you know that sound the car makes when it primes the fuel system when you turn the key to the "ignition" position? I believe it's the fuel pump (like an electric whirring that lasts 5-10 secs). It's making that sound randomly while driving, most times while coming to a stop or pressing the brakes, although it could be perfectly random and I just notice it then.

I'm stumped , I have never seen a car do this, and have no idea if it's bad for the vehicle in the long run? It's been doing it for a couple months now, and the vehicle drives no differently than the day I drove it off the lot.

I guess my question is, has anyone had this issue with their H3? And if so what was it? Is something going bad (ie. fuel pump)? This is really strange, I've thought about changing out the fuel pump but what if that isn't the issue? Thank you!

Likely your brake booster which is driven by an electric motor mounted near the firewall on the drivers side. I hear it on ignition after my truck has been sitting for a while. I have never noticed it engaging while driving but I am sure it does. Probably too much ambient noise for me to hear it.
