strange noise on acceleration
Just bought 2005 hummer h2, it drives fine but make a noise under acceleration, the noise comes under the hood.Sounds like a ticking noise, definately like a tensioner... or a belt or summit, any help wouldbe appreciated.

I just had my belts and ac tensioner replaced on my H2 because they would squeel especially when cold. The ticking noise doesn,t sound to me like a belt. Does it go away when the truck warms up? If yes,it could be an exhaust leak. Check the exhaust manifolds and look for broken manifold bolts. Just a suggestion!

i had a warped exhaust manifold that sounded like a ticking, but it's hard to know what kind of ticking you're referring to without my forum-goggle-headphones on. open the hood and listen yourself, at least you might get an idea of what part of the engine compartment it's coming from.
