Default Starting Problems

First off, I have a 2000 H1 Wagon. First thing in the morning the truck starts right up. When I drive it for 20 to 30 minutes and then shut it off to do something it won't start when I come back a half hour later. It will crank but not turn over. If I wait a few hours it will start right up. Any ideas on what could be the problem? It is getting plenty of fuel!

Looks to be a possible FSD/PMD issue. Heres a couple links to help you determine...

I'll be buying a kit. My H1 was throwing a ODB code for the glowplugs, replaced them and it cleared code but now having a "wont start while hot" issue that points right at the above issue.

If its a late production 2000 it should have a glow plug controller module, unless you scanned the ecu and shows a problem in a glow plug then would recommend replace them all,

Update from back in May.

I got the new PMD and Heatsink kit and installed it. Still had the "wont start when hot" problems. Did some more research and found that the Fuel Injector Pump can go bad and a easy way to test it is once you get the "Wont Start" prob, grab a cup or bottle of water and pour it over the fuel injector pump. I was shocked! lol

As it turns out after a closer viewing of the top valley of the motor where the pump lives I was able to tell that this "cup of water" fix had been being used by the previous owner for some time. Water stains, corrossion, and rust were visible. And yes pouring a simple bottle of cold water would cool the pump and she would fire right up.

I purchased a new fuel injector pump and we did a weekend install with a mechanic friend. Not a single problem since then.

I purchased it from Accurate Diesel 6.5L Injection Pump
Went with the fully new option just cause I could at the time. Be prepared to do a fair bit of work under the hood and in the doghouse to get to the ill-placed pump. was a bit of a headache but nothing that cant be done over the weekend.

Not the easiest job but stay patient and most anyone can do it. Congrats on the repair.
