Default spring shackle/shock skid

Welp I finished my big project. Make skids that protect all of this. I started outand bought some for mere $235. Turns out they are not wide enough to cover shock bolt. No index slot to reinforce brackets. I should have just started in on my own. I have some coming hopefully real soon for the front of the rear spring mount.

Im having a little server problem with the pictures. Im placing the order Monday and hopefully pick up a pair for the front so I can shoot pictures. I have clicked on "contact HF" over 48 hours ago and got not reply. I pmed an administrator about posting in classified trying to obey the loose rules I see on here. I hate for the guys on this forum not to get in on these. It is probably a one shot deal because I can't meet the large minimum order again. Im going out ona limb for 30 sets. That is 120 pieces with four in a set. Too many for me to make!! It has to happen Monday to meet the laser setup schedule. I may post in classified Monday if there is no problem. I give up on fixing those pics I tried to change. The black one is brand "A"

If I got off in the rocks very much, I'd order a set from ya. Heck, they might work pretty good as skids in this nasty @ss black gumbo mud I have to muck through going down to the range and what not. Bout the worst hard obstacle I ever encounter is wood or what ever debris someone has put down for traction in a hole or something.

Now having said that, watch me hit a freakin’ boulder in the Wal Mart parking lot ! ! !

However, you Mr. Hunner, almost need tank armor in that crazy terrain you traipse about in.

they look pretty good but i have a little experience in fabrication and four wheeling and a would make a gusset on that bracket to support the front of the skid from bending against your shock.

Ok do you mean like on the second picture, from right to left is back to front. The longer portion is at the "back". I don't know what you would run a gusset to. The back edge would hit the spring before the shock if you rolled back on it.Is that what you are suggesting? Any idea where you would attach a gusset back there? I had little or no input on this. I have been running a set for awhile but have not deliberatly rolled back into a rock, yet! I have come down hard on the bottom of that part with only ground out scratches.

I agree and we looked into that. It would of course require you to remove all of that just to replace shocks. It would also hold mud in there. It is not that much fun. I have done it about 4 times now. So we made it long enough that it would hit the spring way before it could fold over. Im sure some will get some hits but we figured if we made it 3/8 and all the gussets and enclosed the entire mount it would start to be heavy and some less clearance. I have several prototype designs laying around. Maybe if the military starts using H3's I could make one for armoured units and sell them for $500. Just kidding. I may give a reward to the guy that mangles one the most. I think I will have a few more than I have sold for awhile. The fab shop said since I placed such a large order he would agree to a smaller run later on. I would like to be able to offer a replacement. That does not seem to be an option by the big guys. I just wanted to make a difference by showing that we are not at the mercy of aftermarket big dogs. I hope everyone gets some use and protection from them and has fun.
