sorry...but another torsion bar ?
So I read up on it on here and everyone said it's very easy to do...I tried to turn the torsion bolt without jacking the car up...that baby is not moving. Is it supposed to be extremely hard to turn, or is it possible the previous owner of my vehicle jacked it up already? I noticed the torsion keys are very rusty is this normal? Sorry again about adding another torsion bar question, but I'm just concerned about over-doing it, esp if it's possible that the previous owner did it...what is normal ride height for the front from the fender to the ground?
Are you sure you areturning the T Bar adjusting bolt? What are you using to do it with?
Use a long handled ratchet, or put an extension bar on the end of a regulare size ratchet. You may not be able to turn them with one had on a shorty, but they should move without busting any knuckles.
Take a pic of the rusty keys, they will get cruddy as they are on the underside of the truck, and if you are in the north country, add in the road salt corrosion factor. Hit the threaded sectionsome crud penitrator, and try it the next day???
