Default So what are the tried and true sizes.

After reading and searching out numerous threads today on specific tire sizes being used with stock H3 rims...and reading about this specific size or that size, one simple question...can someone just list all the tire sizes that have been tried and safely run on stock rims, no leveling , no tweaking of anything underneath. I just hit 37K on the 2006 and it is timne for new treads, if I can get a different look from this expense at the same time I would like too...give me the search sizes you could use over on the tirerack upgrade garage ad for example. (2006 H3 base )...start with your favorite.

Obviously 265/75/R16 works...then.....

THANKS IN ADVANCE!!

315-75-16 no changes, no lift nothing and I wheel it.. I happened to find a stock tire Hummer at the store so here is the difference in height and size. I love it and had not had a problem.

33's are a stock tire on adventure packages

35's are cake. The most common upgrade size on these trucks.

Default is there truth in this???

For all you northern snow drivers is there any truth to the statement that a narrower tire is going to give you much better winter traction than a tire with a wider stance?? If so how much more?

I.E How much winter traction do I loose to get the beefier tread look of 305/315 from say a 265/285?

My thought right now is to try to get a bit of both worlds and go 305.

Yes a thinner tire will slice thru the snow, as opposed to a wider tire floating on top of the snow. Generally you want to slice the snow down to the hardpack/pavement for traction. Floating wont do sh*t for you in snow besides lose control.

265s would do better in snow on a stock tire. But if you are going with beefy tires, I would think you'll be fine with 305/315's

315-75-16 BFG A/T. Rubs on the front sway bar at full lock, both sides, but not a big deal. I hardly ever notice it. leveled to 23.75, billstien shocks.
