I used an air grinder. A dremel tool will also work.
Even w/o your friend, you could do it yourself by starting one outside bolt thru the hook plate on one end, then lift the other side and start the other bolts.

I took the guard out of the box at UPS and they got rid of it for me, I had to move the guard around in the back to get the door to close.
ahh, I'll have to steal my friend's dremel off him then lol... hopefully it works better than it did last time we used it (we had to cut his JUN bumper for his WRX for his front mount intercooler to fit behind it... man was that a hack job we did LMAO!!)

Thanks SD

FWIW, going to pick up the black grill now... yay!!

put the black grill and brush guard on... I really like it! I'll get some pictures up after I wash it... any requests for the location of the pictures? if not they're going to be booooorrring [:'(]

williecee: I can't imagine how big of a pain in the *** it was to fit the brush guard into the back of the h3... the box for the grill didn't even fit LOL (just took it out and it fit diagonally fortunately)

CerberusSVT:

Man do those SMA guards come in one big @ss box or what ! ! !
I had mine delivered to my wife's shop and she nearly freaked out when the UPS
guy drug it through the front door. She thought I had ordered some kind of fridge
or something. I had hell wrasslin' that thing into the H3 without puncturing the leather or poking holes in something. Right now, the guard and some other goodies are all sitting in my barn out at the south forty waiting on me to get some time off to do the install........

Can't wait......(got a little vacation the beginning of Jan).......AND....

IfIcan quit acting like a woman picking out a new pair of shoes and make my final choice,
I should have the new wheels and meats to put on as well.....

Then I'll have some pics worth posting.

BTW: You guys have built a nice community here and all the hard work that goes into running this forum really shows. Thanks.

HA...
That box was like the size of a coffin. I put the grard in the back tipped the front seat foreward and all the way up front. Then I also flipped it and barely got the back door shut.
How did you do getting it put on?

No install yet.....Waiting on vacation time at the 1st of the year.

Got the guard and several other goodies to put on. (The stash grows every passing day)

Right now, between work and familial obligations, my time is not my own.

(These 70 hour work weeks and X-Mas "duties" are kicking my large round @ss)

Glad I am a patient man...

Once I get everyone else taken care of, then I can have some GUILT FREE fun ! ! ! !

Gunner, my UPS guy just about crapped his pants when he delivered it too... He couldn't believe the girth of my package

When you go to instal the brush guard, you can do what williecee did and use an air grinder to grind off the protrusion on the back of the tow hook base, or you can do what I did and use a drill and just drill it down ( I couldn't get a hold of that dremel, so I had to improvise... it was really easy just drilling it out)

quick pic of black grill, will get more when I'm not so lazy

Just couldn’t leave the “package” comment alone could you……….Like a five dollar bill lying on the ground…you just had to pick it up.

I’m just pissed I didn’t use it first…

I’m digging that black grill and the over all blacked out look…..It just looks “right” on an H3.

Personally, I’ve got to have a little shiny stuff on mine.Gives me something to clean after a day at the river.

As for that pesky roll pin, I’ve got a dremel and bench grinder that should do the trick.

Have you or Williecee given any thought to your lighting options yet?

I’ve got an old,"never mounted" set of KC Daylighters I bought for my last 4X4I’d like to pressinto service,
but I’m not sure they’ll jive with the overall look I’m going for. I have to say though,
those old sealed beam KC’s deliver a LOT of bang for the buck. Plus, I love the
fact that you can replace the standard bulbs with Q-Beam Blue Eye bulbs for
foul weather driving.

hahaha, I was actually shocked that you didn't make the package comment first... I had to

as far as my lighting options, I'm not sure if I really want any lights to cover up my new grill I just shelled out good money for... we'll see... if I get some lights, I'm going to get something low profile at the most, I was going to get a set of Hella Black Magic lamps because they are black when they arn't lit up, but now I'm second guessing myself. I've also tossed around the idea of getting some KC lamps & putting the smiley face covers on them, but just as a joke.

Thanks for the compliments, it means alot, especially since the money I had set aside for all of that crap now means very little [:@]
