skid plate nut stripped

The right-rear nut for the skid plate (under the oil pan, not the splash guard) is stripped. Suggestions on how to fix?

It looks like there may be enough nut exposed to tap to 10MM threads, but I'd rather keep the original threads...

Justin

(BTW, I have extra U-nuts for the front edge of the splash guard if anyone needs some.)

Mine has a bolt
The "nut" on the frame is a removable clip

The dealership found a partially stripped nut on mine as well. I don't know the details, but I know it was cheap and easy to fix. I think it may have been a removable clip like Hawaiian says because they told me it was a 5 minute fix and IIRC only a few bucks. Not sure if it's the same nut, but I got the impression that all those nuts were the same way.

Any details on this removable clip? It looks to me like it is welded inside the cross member. I didn't see how you could get inside to replace it.

All of the nuts inside the cross members are welded. Either drill and tap or drill all the way through the top and put a long bolt with a nut and washer on top.
