shorty antenna....
now that i did the t-bar leveling trick, i scrape pulling in my garage. Is there a shorter model that works without going to a local auto parts store, and getting some "universal junk" style?
Google "Opel GT Antenna" and check the associated threads at either the Sky or Solstice forums for the part number. If you need to preserve the best possible radio reception, the GM factory shorty antenna is likely the way to go. It's about $20 retail from the dealer and about the same if you buy it online from a GM wholesaler because of shipping charges.
Otherwise, you could just clip off the top few inches as needed. Glue on a small rubber bumper to the top of the mast for protection against the sharp edge.

If you're talking about the radio antenna on the side of the vehicle, you can cut off about six inches without any problem
FM sign wave needs an antenna that is the same length or half as short of sign wave
My antenna is as now as tall as the roof line and works perfect.
I glued a plastic cap on top to finish it off

thanks, i will clip it and try it out. Knowing there is a GM option is also a good thing to know in case i dont like the finished product. My other half is in the car business, so parts come cheap
I found a source on ebay & bought a nice 14" black antenna for about $15 including shipping. I've had it for almost 2 years with no reception problems.
FWIW I have also used some of the auto parts store rubber ducky antennas for about $6 each. You may or may not like the way they look. No real problems although:
- They quickly adopt a permanent bend to the rear of the vehicle
- If you get water inside the screw mount, they go bad after a
year or so. If you go through a car was, don't let them take it
off.
