Shifting from D to N without engaging button?
Yesterday my wife bumped into the shifter while driving and it shifted from D to N without pressing the button down on the shifter. To go from P to R I have to press the button. I can shift from R to N without pressing it but not from N to R. Is all this normal or do I have a broken shift control lever? This is in a 2004 H2. Thanks!

After researching this it seems to be standard with automatic transmissions. Can anyone confirm the H2 behaves this way? I've literally never tried shifting any vehicle without engaging the button so it freaked me out a little

Yep, shifting to N will cause no damage, going the other way will cause all kinds of damage if done at the wrong time, so the button must be pushed.
