Service Air Suspension- 2003 Hummer H2

Hello,

Recently purchased a 2003 H2 about a month ago. Last week I received the 'Service Air Suspension' message when I was on the freeway. Went off after I started it after work that day, no lowering/sagging or noise from the compressor that I could hear. The message came back on a few days later while on the freeway again. Again, no symptoms that I could see or hear. Just wondering if anyone has an idea of what's going on? Does the H2 need to have the notorious sagging for it to start having issues? Seems to go off after restarting it. So, in the month that I've had it, the message has came on 2-3x with no symptoms.

Thanks for any and all answers!

You need someone to scan air suspension module, code reader wont do it.

I haven't gotten a 'Service Air Suspension' warning yet, but every once and a while I go to the garage and the rear end is sagging, as soon as I start it the compressor comes on and the rear picks up. Not sure the reason this is happening and I am not getting any warnings of an impending problem.

You may have a leak.

Service Air Suspension- 2003 Hummer H2

So, I used the rear ride height function and raised it during my lunch break. The truck did raise but I couldn't get it to lower before I went home. The light was flashing pretty much the whole ride home (20 miles). I disconnected the battery for about 5 minutes, reconnected and tried to lower it back but the light won't come on at all now. The rear is two inches higher than the front. Tried the rear air compressor attachment and that worked okay (sounded like it). Did I do something wrong when I tried to lower it?

Does there need to be sagging in order to have compressor and/or other issues?

Should lower itself while running with all the doors closed. strange that that part doesn't work. The bags themselves rot and will develop small holes that will seep air right where they fold over themselves. I have an 03' and I recently replace my bags for the 2nd time. Seem to last about 6 years. I'm sure that will depend on what environment they are exposed too. The bag replacement is very simple for anyone who has some reasonable mechanical skills. they take about 15 minutes each and cost about 165 each for the original equipment ones. you can get em at the chevy dealer or online.

p.s. DO NOT LET YOUR COMPRESSOR CONSTANTLY RUN!!! It WILL overheat eventually and you will have a VERY expensive repair or will have to get rid of the air suspension (which is a shame if you tow).

It would be nice to have a little light that came on when it is running just to tell if it is running too much.
