The OEM Hummer branded roof top boxes are great. The go on and off easily and I had no rattles at all out of them. Two fit on your roof rails. You can take them off when you don't need then, unlike a roof rack. I threw them on for hunting/camping trips and took them off when I got home. I put a small step ladder on top of the gear in one of them and that made retrieving everything easy.

I finally got Thule roof box on factory cross bar of my 04 H2. I needed rack key which I ordered Thule dealer, also was not 100% sure but ordered Thule xadapt 10 hoping it will make the cargo box fit on the factory bar.

Yesterday, I found Thule mountaineer cargo in local craiglist and made a visit to seller house for test fitting. I needed to use original mounting parts and adapter kit together but it fit.

I used T-bolt, rubber ring and wing-nut from adapter kit, also I used metal plate and plastic inner mounting piece from original.

I pre-assenble the cargo box with mounting kit loosely and basically get the box on the bar by sliding T-bolt into the T-track of the bar. It seems that way is easier than putting entire box on top first and assemble mounting kit together on the roof.

 

Have the Thule Atlantis 1600 Cargo Box and LOVE it.

Adjusts to just about any width cross bars and opens either direction. Fits on the Honday minivan as well as my H2.
