I've read a couple of posts on these that describe them as a combination of rock rail protection and side step, but in the pictures that I find online the side step portion doesn't seem very wide. Does anyone have these on their truck? Thx.

 

They stick out some but there not much lower than the floor board, I don't use them as a step except to reach the roof or back of the bed. If you want I can take some more detailed shots for ya

 

They are designed for protection. The step aspect is there but it is secondary and not really the intended purpose.

There are a few guys running them over at CHO and some good up close pictures and installation step by step.
