Reverse ONLY?!
So hi everyone! I'm new here... I have a 06 H2.
Finally took it out to play in the mud!
Got stuck in the ditch....
at some point - I lost all gears, except for Reverse!
It is in 4hi...
No strange sounds...
Did the tranny go?? Any advice you can offer would be awesome!!
Thanks;
Dazey

did you take the tranny dipstick out and smell it, or look for ny metal shavings in the tranny fluid? If you stripped a gear or three you would have some metal shavings...if you burnt the clutches or just fried the entire tranny the fluid would smell burnt.
Thanks!
no, we didn't check any of the fluids... its at the dealership as of yesterday.. had to call Hummer Roadside - and they are looking at it now.. everything is under warranty - however they say due to the mud under there, that GM will most likelydeny any warranty for a tranny! Thing is WE WEREN'T OFF ROADING! I got stuck in a seven foot ditch - off a public road!!LOL -I think they may push me to file something with my auto insurance, however Imanaged to get out -in REVERSE! (too bad for me, Ipossibly wrecked the tranny in the process!) Any advice on the warranty stuff? Why would they not cover something like this when they build the H2 for its pride in off roading??? Clueless... Anyhoo - will update with the damages when I hear them...
Thanks again!

i've taken mine into the dealer with mud caked between the skid plate and diff and i've never had a warranty repair rejected. off roading does not void the warranty unless it's obviously been abused. if your tranny got hammered by whatever road surface you slid off of to get into the ditch, that may be abuse, but otherwise it sounds like your dealership may not want to stand behind you with GM. maybe i'm lucky, but my dealership says i use it for what it was built for and support me with GMPP every time i take it in. good luck, let us know how it turns out.
oh, and welcome.

Not covered by warranty?
Bullocks!
They damn well better cover it. How is off-raoding not covered, yet every Hummer commercial on TV is of a Hummer off-roading. Why else would I buy something thats good for 2 feet of water and over sized tires? They're trying to squeeze you...fight it

They can deny warranty for abuse, or taking the vehicle beyond its specified limits;
but they can't deny warranty for operating the vehicle properly and driving it off-pavement where there is some mud.

I understanhd the abuse part. But 1, they have to prove it was abused, and 2, according to the chap above, they say they wont cover it due to mud on the under caridge. Thats not gonna cut it for me. Denying warranty repairs for off-raoding is a foolish thing to tell some one when they sell off raoding capable vehicles with a leagacy of going off road.
Well... Got a call from the Dealership - they hoisted it and pulled the tranny... they're thinking warranty WILL cover a new one... unless after they pull it and discover it has been beat to all hell... which I didn't do! So keep the fingers crossed! Thanks for all of your input.... if they don't warrant it, I'll fight it.
Update y'all tomorrow.
