Default Replacement Shock Absorbers

Our ('06/Lux/mild TB level/285 tires) truck is at 72k miles and I think that our shocks are nearing the end of their useful life. As far as I can research, there seems to be 4 replacement choices available worth considering when I replace them this Fall:

1. OEM shocks
2. OEM Adventure Package shocks
3. Edelbrock IAS shocks
4. Bilstein shocks

At this point I'm leaning towards option #1 or #2. The IAS shocks that soften up under harder impacts seem counter intuative for truck use and the Bilsteins seem like overkill because of their cost and the fact that our truck isn't lifted.

I don't mind something a little stiffer, I'm basically looking for decent comfort and highway control.

Does anyone have experience with these choices or know of some other good alternatives?

It seems that Bilstein makes a set of "HD" (heavy duty) yellow shocks for our trucks too in addition to their fancy silver set for lifted H3's.

The front pair seems to be H3 specific while the rear pair is also spec'ed for 2WD half-ton pickup use.

Anyone have experience with them yet?

I am running the 5100 series Bilstein shock front and rear. The front end has been leveled. The Bilsteins are made for the leveled application. They also provide 1" more extension over stock. They do provide a firm, but comfortable ride.

Thanks for the feedback!

What size tires are you running? How well do the 5100's tame rear axle "stuttering" over highway speed potholes, especially around curves?

Tires are 305/70R16 (33")

As far as going highway speed over potholes, I have not done that yet. I try to avoid potholes alltogether. Around curves, it holds really well. Hardly any body roll whatsoever.
