Replaced Exhaust Manifold
Last week the exhaust coming out of the pre-catalytic converter on the exhaust header on my '06 broke off. I took it to the shop to see if they would weld it back together and the news only got worse. When they pulled off the header to weld it the found one header stud sheared off because the header had expanded by a full inch between the 1st and last cylinder. So I had to get a new header ($1,300) and fix the broken stud, which came to a nice $2,200. Of course I am just out of warranty (at 38K miles). The shop said they have seen this issue and they suspect it is a known issue, because the new header has a new part number. Anyone else heard of this?

RE: Replaced Exhaust Manifold
I have an 07 H3 and im going through the same thing. My exhaust manifold sheared the bolts and they have to go in and drill out the old ones. The part to fix it was on national backorder because the Hummer dealer in San Antonio said this was a big problem on the H3's and H2's. It causes a ticking in what sounds like the heads. I was told yesterday the part came in after 2 weeks and im going in on Monday to drop it off to have it fixed. Im at 35xxx miles on mine so it seems this happens around that time.
I'll let ya know what happens after it's fixed. |
