repairing a salvaged H3T?
Good or bad idea?
I was thinking in a few years when I have spare cash that I could buy a wrecked H3T and fix it up and use it as a weekend toy/ off roading vehicle.
I did a quick search and found this one: Damaged 2009 HUMMER H3T for sale
Looks pretty good. It even starts.
Starting price is about $3k
Even if it went for $10k you would still have a lot of money left over for repairs and upgrades compared to buying a non wrecked one for 25k-30k...
You could have a pretty awesome truck on the cheap compared to buying a non wrecked one and then modifing.
So good idea or bad idea?
Has anyone done anything similar to this?
edit: and I would only consider doing this with an alpha model... gotta have a v8 to do it right.

Issues: Insurance, electrical, and resale.
Insurance companies do not total vehicles that are an easy fix, flood damaged vehicles will have life long electrical gremlins and you cannot predict how much it will cost to repeatedly correct. If you plan on owning it til death, and have the time & ability to run down problems, then maybe. I guess you could get lucky with a 1 in 10,000 reliable salvage vehicle? Just my $.02.

Please don't take this the wrong way. It is harsh but ment to be helpful so you don't blow a lot of $ paying someone else for future upgrades/repairs on a "salvaged" vehicle. Unless you wipe with hundreds, then heck...go for it!
Are you not the person who went to a shop to have your torsion bar bolts adjusted after we told you how to do it and how easy it is? Are you not the person who didn't know you had a championship edition when you bought it until we explained it to you? You want to rebuild a salvaged HUMMER? Probably not the best thought out plan in my opinion.

It wasn't really a plan.. more of an idea/dream.. Ya know buy a cheap H3t alpha.. slowly fix it up the way you would like it over the years.
looks like someone already kinda fixed that one up..
