Default Removing stock hood vent to install hood handles

OK..so directions says there are 3 visible clips to remove the hood vent. There are more. The others are all but inaccessible. I actually cracked the hood vent slightly pulling up on it. I am pissed. Any ideas as to how to access those other clips and install the handles?

Installing Rear Wheels black powder coated handles. I am in the market for a new hood vent now too. Want a metallic (black powder coated) one next instead of that crappy plastic one. Thanks for any input.

First are you sure your louver hasn't had the recall "glue down" ?

I drilled right thru my louver and hood to install my handles with bolts from the engine compartment side. That way there is no chance that my louver will fly off like the recall says.
It might be more likely to fly off with the hood handles attached to it.

My louver had the recall done and was recently replace due to splotching. Even with the glue, the tech. got it off in one piece without damaging it. So it can be done.

let the engine run for 5 mins or so. if its cold in Va right now and you are working outside or in a cold garage, the plastic and adhesive will be a lot more difficult to work with heat from the engine bay will make them more malleable. and yes, drill through the hood. thats how the H2 and H1 are done.

Read this - He bolted Real Wheel Hood Handles thru his hood and that's how I did mine too.

Default Installed

I actually had to have the dealer put them on. Had to buy a new louver as they said there was no way to get it off without damaging it due to the recall fix. No big deal. I had cracked it a little trying to get it off anyway. Just affixed through the louver..no drilling into the hood. I like it well enough.
