Rear view mirro...fell off and took some of the windshield with it!
 

So we're driving down the road and I look in the rear view mirror at my daughter and notice the mirror is vibrating like crazy.

I think, "Hmm. Strange. This is a very smooth road. Where's that movement coming from?"

I reach up to check the mirror and it comes off in my hand with like NO force from me. Wow is this thing heavy!

Along with the mirror and metal mounting piece is a good chuck of glass. Apparently the laminated glass separated and a chunk came off with the mirror, still glued to the metal mounting plate!

Luckily the outer piece of laminated glass held so there wasn't a hole all the way through.

Hit the local windshield place and got a new windshield.

But a strange experience.

Just had mine replaced today. Heat and hail caused a crack right in front of the driver.
Also found out that the new windshield come with the mirror mount pre-installed.

Never heard of a windshield doing that--major flaw that could have had worse consequences from the sounds of it!
