Rear Factory Radio Support

Hello,

Question out there to all that may have installed Double Din Aftermarket Nav/DVD systems into there H3. How did you get around the factory rear radio support? Can it be completely removed?

I'm trying to install a Pioneer AVH-P4200DVD in a H3 that I currently lease and I dont want too cut anything out so I can put the factory radio back at the end of the year when I return the hummer. But I want to put this in till then. So i'm looking for suggestions before I'll have to suck it up and pay for an install.

Thanks Guys

Chris

I don't think you have much choice. That rear support is in the way and must be removed to install the Pioneer.

It may not be critical as a support when you put the OEM radio back in but I haven't heard one way or another.

I might be pissed if I was the next buyer and something happened to the OEM radio because of not having that rear support. I'm sure it's there for a reason.

The radio support shouldnt get in the way of the new unit, maybe its the cabling that is bunched up?? If it is in the way, I just break them off...It does help hold in the factory radio, yes, but its also secured by 4 7mm screws and is just fine without the plastic bracket in back...
