Radio decision
I have a 05 sut, and have the stock 6 disk with xm. I have seen a lot with the dvd/nav/ bluetooth systems , but i have heard that if i switch to a aftermarket setup i lose the use of my steering controls. What can i do or is there a way to get a hold of a factory h2
If I might recommend a brand on head unit, I have a DNX9960, and I LOVE it to death. Made a custom start up screen, loaded my own maps, tweaked the interface a bit since it's just Windows CE running on the back end. I even managed to hack away the stupid advertisements for the free traffic, so I now have free traffic service for life without any of the bull**** advertisements that pop up with it enabled.
Whatever you do, if you want to keep your factory speakers, door chimes, and bluetooth, you'll need a wiring harness, which you'll need one anyways unless you want to drive yourself to drink trying to hook it up without one. I don't "need" one anymore, since I replaced my entire sound system and everything is running off of amplifiers now, so the only thing my wiring harness is doing is pretty much providing power for my head unit. But still the cost of the head unit is worth me not having to sit in my truck for three hours with a crimp tool trying to mickey mouse rig my power and remote wires.
As far as steering wheel controls are concerned, you should be able to retain those no problem. Go here:
iPod Integration for your car and More by Pac-Audio - Connecting you to the future
And punch in your vehicle and head unit to find the right one. The only thing you might not keep, if your truck is so equipped, is rear passenger stereo controls.

Nice I had no idea. The problem is, is that the GPS is Garmin, but the rest of the head unit is WinCE.
