RACK ATTACK!

Well, with some sound advice from the folks on Hummer Forum, I finally finished my roof rack. Actually, it was finished two weeks ago but there was a delay in receiving my IPF lights. I didn't want to post photos until they were installed. This rack is strong! And fairly low profile. The rear cross member is removable to accommodate longer materials or equipment and all the wiring for the IPF's run through the rack. The floor is perforated aluminum and the rack is powder-coated a textured black, the closest to GM finish I could find. It weighs in at 55lbs...25lbs lighter than a Gobi. All in all, I'm pretty proud of it! Future upgrades to my H3 will include: black rims(powder-coated or after market...still trying to decide) 33" tires, paint to match grille, rock rails and a Gobi ladder(or I might make my own). So, in response to a recent post, "How do you haul a 10' 2x4?", this is how! Along with 6 more and a few sheets of plywood! :)

This ain't something I would normally say to another dude, but.....

What a great rack you have man ! !

(and I DON'T mean that in a Broke Back sort of way)

I've been waiting to see this bad boy mounted up......Nice work.

How is that front foot attached?

I put a very slight downward bend in the front section and a spacer under the plastic channel to keep it from crushing. When the rest of the rack was tightened down, it snugged the front section down real nice. An insert nut in the plastic and a 1/4" bolt through the front foot keeps things from shifting but I don't think it was necessary. Again, thanks to all who helped me along the way!

It cost just under $200 to powder-coat.
