Questions about hummer h2 headrests.

I just bought this kit on eBay Hummer H2 Headrest DVD Video OEM Package RH LH New | eBay it states I will need a wiring harness to finish install.... I don't see the DVD player either? Anyone buy this kit? Do I have to get the factory harness or is there another way? Thanks in advance.:D

Hummer h2 headrest

I'm just wondering if you figured out how to wire the headrests. I'm also thinking about getting them from eBay.

I got them working after spending a few hundred dollars. The kit is missing 2 junction boxes and a harness which are discontinued. I found them on the Internet for about $250ish and then I bought a factory oem hummer DVD player (also discontinued) for a couple hundred...Took me a few months to find the DVD player on eBay as they are very hard to find. Before I did this I brought it to a stereo specialist & was told the only way to hook this set up was with the missing pieces....if I had to do it all over again I would probably have not got them...as in most cases a deal too good to be true is.;)

Now that I have all the pieces it works great & of course looks great as its all factory!:D
Good luck!:)

im currently wiring the headrests up to an aftermarket headunit if anyone is interested in going down this route instead of keeping the original hummer stereo.it takes a bit of handy wiring but will have the same effect as the original hummer setup.

Right..
If you take up the centre console armest bucket, you will find 2 thick black cables that come from the dashboard area. These have a female plug on the end of them which look like "S-Video" plugs but are actually "8 pin mini din" plugs.
Connected to these are another 2 thick black cables which lead into each of the front seats and then into the headrest monitors.

What i did was..
Unplug the male and female "8pin min din" plugs from eachother and cut out the female end (the end that goes into the dash area). Do this with the power off and cut far enough back so that you are left with 6 or 7 inches on the end of the plug, then tape the end off and leave it.

This will leave you with the headrest cables in there so all you need to do now is connect the headunit to these plugs.

the way you do this is..

take the female end you cut out earier and strip back the insulation so you can see each of the colours.
That will leave you with this:

From Left to Right:
Yellow- Audio
Back with White and silver inside- White and silver are AV input
Red- Audio
Black- Power positive
Black with white red and silver - silver is power negative and i think the white and red is a second AV input although i havent used this.

To get the image from the headunit to the headrests:
Connect an AV wire into the AV out yellow plug in the back of the headunit and then connect it to the white and silver wires shown above.(you will need to strip back the end of the AV cable for this).
Then connect a 12v power source to the Black wire and the silver wire shown above and hey presto.

If you want audio to come through the headrest monitors (through the headphone out plug) you will need to run 2 cables from the headunit (AV out RED and WHITE usually) and connect them to the red and yellow wires.
I havent done this because it will be comming through the speakers anyway.

If you want to attach another AV source to the headrests so you can change between the headunit dvd and something else(playstation etc) i think you just do the exact same thing form the other source(playstation etc) to the white and red wire shown above.

I Hope this helps.

by the way, does anyone know how to remove the 2nd row seat headrests?
im planning on installing another screen in the passenger side headrest of the 2nd row so that if i have a 6th person sitting in the boot, they can watch a dvd aswel.
i read somewhere that it's the same principle as the front row seats (pinholes and paperclips) but cant seem to find the pinholes.

Looking for part number for Hummer DVD Headrest harnesses

Does anyone have the harness part numbers they can list for Hummer DVD Headrest Kit. Vizualogic still sells the DVD player. It has a green connector. Dvd resides in the armrest console. I am looking for the harness part # that connects to the green connector of the DVD player. I found a pic in the following post of the green connector on the harness: https://www.hummerforums.com/forum/h...-wiring-27524/

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
