Default Question on cabin noise

I've noticed that my H3 sounds a little noisey when I'm crusing say above 40 mph. I have your basic wind noise that I'd expect but I also have a noise coming from the transmission and firewall area. The noise almost sounds like wind noise but it's not. Can someone explain to me what the noise is, I'm thinking it's probably from the four wheel drive stuff by the transmission that I'm not used to having. I know it's not a problem I'm just curious what the noise is. I've heard people make comments on the intake being too loud after changing to a CAI kit so I was thinking maybe this is just the factory air intake noise.

I got the wind noise as wel as the sound of a turbine from the firewall area while driving...I think is sound cool...Like the sound of power......not to mention the snapping noise from the roof headliner. I only hear these noises when the monsoon is off and that is not very often...

Now that you mention it the sound is kind of like a turbine. I notice when I take my foot off the gas the sound gets lower and when I slow down it gets lower.

Don't get me wrong it's not loud it's just there. My wife and I can easily talk at a normal level at 70 mph. I was just curious what the noise was from, like wind noise, transmission, or the other 4 wheel drive componants. I'm just used to being in a totally different type of vehicle so I'm kind of looking at everything about the H3 when I'm driving it.

Probably the tires..Mine howl a little to be honest..But remember this is a cinder block and the aerodynamics are pretty bad.

No noise in mine I love how quiet it is a definite plus over the old Ford.

Little Monster, any idea what is causing the noise from the headliner? I have the same noise from time to time. Its actually kind of annoying.

A few people here had this problem, it seems that it was coming from the marker lights faulty design.
They have modified the design since early this year and the problem was solved.
If you have marker lights from the first generation maybe you can cut a deal with your dealer and having them replaced.
If you do not have marker lights the noise may come from the sunroof.

If you have neither a sun roof nor marker lights..... I don't know

If you don't have the Old style Marker Lights, It's most likely coming from the A Pillar mouldings... I have this noise as well at Highway Speeds of 70+ MPH.
