I am thinking about adding a bull bar to my H3. Where is the best place to get one? I seen some for $100 to $200 on eBay and thought about getting one of those. I also heard from a couple folks on here that some bull bars require the tow hooks to be removed. Is this just for installation or is it a permanent removal?

I want to install a bull bar, but not at the expense of the tow hooks.

Let's make it clear what we're talking about when we say "Bull Bar".

To most people, this is a Bull Bar



And this is a Grill Guard or Brush Guard



The terms are used interchangably on ebay to add to everyone's confusion.

That said, the answer to your question is, a Bull Bar will replace the tow hooks.
A Grill Guard keeps the tow hooks.

 

I think you're out of luck I was looking for the same thing, and it doesn't exist. I saw a bull bar where the tow hooks were left intact, but they were mounted behind the bull bar, and rendered useless. If by chance you DO find one where the hooks are still accessible, share!

 

I wouldnt give up your recovery shackles for ANYTHING. Those are the toughest damn shackles you'll find; most times tougher than aftermarket.
