I'm getting ready/considering buying a 2008 H3 4WD 5 cyl 3.7L Automatic Monday or Tuesday of next week.... Couple of questions - 1. I compared the MPG with a Jeep Grand Cherokee and 14 city 18 Hway are the numbers I got; Is the pretty accurate? 2. How hard is it to find parts? 3. Will it do well in the mountains or in the sand at the beach? thx

Sorry if these questions seem trivial but I'm a newbie and I'm catching some flack about the purchase from friends.... I'll prolly have more questions over the weekend.... thx for your help

 

I have had two grand cherokees, 1 with an inline 6 4. 0 and an 05 limited with a v 8 4.7. I got 17 with 4.0 and 16 with a 4.7. also my h3 kills it in the snow, sleet, and ice on mount hood(the jeeps were no slouch either though). good luck!

 

Yep, the mpg's are comparable to the Jeep GC. The H3 rides just as nice on-road as the GC, yet performs much better offroad. Sand, mountains, mud, rocks. It'll do it all provided you have the appropriate tires.

 

Parts are not an issue.

If you know how to wheel, the H3 can go anywhere.

i say go for it. it really is a fun ride compared to the Jeep GC. i just wish it had removable doors like the Wrangler and rear seats that folded down flat... although there are pros and cons to all vehicles, like i wrote in another thread, you either buy the H3 for its looks, for its off-road capability or both. if you are too concerned about gas mileage, consider something else, as it gets the least mileage in its class (compared to Toyota FJ and Wrangler). i would compare the ratings though at JD Power & ***. at their website if youre still contemplating. other than that, if you get it, it would look really good with the roof marker lights on top!
