Plume of Smoke (Exhaust)/ Liquid under vehicle?
Not sure what the heck is wrong.
Lets start with this excessive liquid (water) that seems to slightly pool under H3. This is on the ground. No idea where it is coming from or why. In the last week, upon start up, a plume of smoke will come from the exhaust. I don't mean a puff, but something akin to what you see at drag races. Lastly, once in the last week, the word fluid came up on the dash. 2010 H3 Alpha, 46K miles. Any ideas? |
Check your radiator fluid and see if its low.
Smell the exhaust - if it smells like radiator fluid you've got a coolant leak in the engine. The water could just be condensation off of the a/c |
Would that mean a cracked radiator? Freaking thing was replaced a year ago under warranty.
Will do, thanks. |
no, I didn't want to say the scary words "blown head gasket..."
That could be the source of the smoke. You can check your oil too - if it's bad enough the stuff on your dip stick will look like chocolate milk instead of gold or even black. Or you can go to oreillys and grab a test kit - usually they're by the radiator fluid. |
First.....
Did you climb under and look at touch the puddle to smell it? Second.... What's your current weather like? Third. ... Before getting to ahead of things did you check all your fluids? Chris |
Definitely coolant. Los Angeles. Dry. 70-80's daytime. 60's at night.
H3 is currently at the stealership. If I can't get this H3 more reliable after this go round, have to look into another solution. Tired of being left on the road dead. Freaking thing is driving me crazy. I have a few months left on the warranty for the drivetrain and the service in my area is the worst. I usually have to drive 110 miles to another dealership to get it fixed. Not sure I will ever own another GM product after this. Sorry for the rant.. thanks all. |

I feel your pain !
H32006,
I understand your frustration. My 2006 H3 Only has 70k miles and has had several issues, including the dreaded misfire. The way I baby this thing and perform routine maintenance, you'd think it'd be ok. I won't steal your thread but I've now got a cel and rough idle. This vehicle will be the death of me. Never buying GM again. |
All they are coming back with now is that it is the A/C blower, etc. Nothing else. H3 has been with them since Thursday. Does not explain the plumes of smoke or puddles of water under the engine area.
Really need a mechanic in the LA area that knows Hummers. |
Really, you wasted space in this thread for this?
