Shattered my sunroof driving down a gravel road.

I have Toyo M/T 35X12.50xR18, they kicked up a rock and smashed my sunroof

My question is, has anyone ever replaced a sunroof glass with plexiglass??

 

Not sure, but I don't think it's perfectly flat (has a roof contour). You'd never be able to match it unless it was. If it IS flat, you'd be better off with polycarbonate. Much stronger/scratch resistant than Plexiglas. It's the stuff used for cycle helmet visors, & bullet proof glass.

Edit.....stick with the OEM tempered glass. In an accident it breaks up into little square pieces, where a plastic could break into dangerous shards.

 

Have the OEM sunroof glass installed and have your insurance company pay the bill.

 

If you wanted an alternative, a soft top would be the best option but then price would probably be around the cost of the glass.

 

New glass and have insurance cover it since it will likely be expensive. Then install a gobi without the sunroof opening.
That problem is exactly why I got rid of the rancho lift with the tires sticking out, One gravel road and it's raining rocks.

I had some glass companies quote a new glass as high as $1500!

But my insurance is going to take care of it, thankfully.

Yes I did, just leveled the front end, stock wheels and put 285 toyo mts on it. Goes anywhere I went with the rancho without slinging crap everywhere and at everyone.
